DIY Support

Many times people want to install solar thermal systems themselves. PAREI offers a number of different services to assist the Do-IT-Yourselfer.

The DIY installer can get help from:

  • Hands On Experience: Attend a Solar Energy Raiser and learn from fellow community members.

  • Solar Site Visit: PAREI Staff (as part of your annual membership fee) will conduct a Solar Site Visit to evaluate whether your home is feasible for solar and the steps it would take to complete the project. This site visit creates a Shading Analysis Report required to apply for state rebates.

  • Partner you with other DIY installers for questions and/or a tour of systems installed.

  • Collector and Parts Purchasing: PAREI staff will assist you with developing a parts list. PAREI offers membership discounts on solar specific materials such as an Apricus collector and racks, temperature controllers and glycol.

  • Tool Loans: PAREI also loans some tools/equipment for DIY projects.

  • Hire Out Portions of Your Install: PAREI Solar Professional Crew is open to working with DIY homeowners to determine what portions of the jobs homeowners would like to accomplish themselves and what parts they want to hire out.

  • Rebate Applications: PAREI staff can assist you with completing rebate application forms.

  • First Step?: Join PAREI and Check off the box for a Solar Site Visit.
