Building Community

PAREI was formed to help individuals, organizations and small businesses prepare for the challenges of Peak Oil. Many of our activities are designed to bring people together as a community and build networks so they can meet these challenges head on as a group.

It will be difficult to mitigate the effects of Peak Oil by oneself.  By working together on projects, sharing information, best practices and breaking bread we are forming bonds that will weather the worst of storms. Energy Exchanges, Energy Raisers, Housewarmings and Local Foods Plymouth are some of the many activities that bring the community together. Energy Exchanges allow us the time to discuss the environmental and economic challenges that face us and to exchange ideas for solutions. Energy Raisers build community connections and provide a learning forum as well as offering a  practical installation of a solar energy system. Housewarmings not only teach homeowners the basic skills needed to button up their homes but group neighbors together who share similar concerns and goals.  Local Foods Plymouth strives to increase our community’s food security by giving the community an avenue to easily support our local agricultural network. Overall, PAREI strives to infuse their work with values based on cooperation, trust and a vision for a healthier community both environmentally and economically.
